Refurbishment works to busy Southsea School including extensive external works including removal of chimneys, stonework and brickwork repairs, re-pointing and timber window replacement. Internal works included M&E, construction of stud partitions, new suspended ceilings, doors and internal decorations.
Internal alterations to existing classrooms and the construction of various pod extensions to form toilet blocks and all associated services.
The works comprised of but were not restricted to the following: -
Internally the communal areas of the block were decorated, emergency lighting was installed and the property entrance doors were replaced with FD30′s. Asbestos Removal was carried out to the Drying Areas in the block. The loft hatches were upgraded and fire exit signs were installed.
Externally decorations were carried out alongside the removal of moss from the roof, gutter replacement in areas, concrete repairs to the communal areas, spot pointing, ivy removal, asphalt renewal and expansion joints were carried out as well as lime scale removal from brickwork.
The works to Newcomen Road Site comprised of:
- Scaffolding system sufficient / suitable for the full access to all of the external fabric of all buildings and roofs
- External fabric repairs to concrete balconies and walkway structures
- Renewal of asphalt finishes to communal walkways and private balconies
- Structural concrete repairs and anti-corrosion treatments
- Railing replacement to communal walkways
- External decorations
- Internal decorations to communal areas
- Replacement doors to property entrances, shed doors and shed store areas and electrical cupboards
- Fire upgrade works including the installation of emergency lighting and emergency exit signage in order to comply with relevant legislation
The works comprised of the following:-
General repair and decoration to communal areas, including concrete repairs, brickwork repairs, asphalt renewal to the external communal walkway, installation of emergency lighting and railing replacement to the communal walkway. Access was also provided to allow for inspection of the roof and clearance of rainwater goods.
The works comprised of the following:-
- Internal refurbishment to include new kitchen, sanitary ware, internal decorations including flooring, electrical works, installation of new heating system and removal of redundant system and installation of fire alarm
- Internal reconfiguration of internal walls
- External works included demolition of existing extension and construction of new, replacement flat roof and replacement external windows and doors.
The works comprised of the retrospective structural steel support frames to existing precast concrete stair sections in the communal stair and lift towers at Crown Street, King Albert Court, Lords Court, Lord Street and Wimpole Court all based within Portsmouth.
The works comprised of the balcony repairs to two large, detached, seven storey blocks of residential flats (189 separate dwelling units within blocks E-J Estella Road and 119 separate dwelling units in Grafton Street blocks A-D).
The works comprised of the following:-
The Works comprise the construction of a new single storey structure as a New Life Skills Building, including facilities for those with disabilities. The site is situated on a former tip, therefore, contaminated land was present and controlling foundations design and construction with special controls on all excavations, services trenches and disposal of excavated material was required.
The foundations for the single storey building, is vibrated stone columns, supporting an in-situ concrete slab. The walls are of brick and block at lower level and metal sheeting above, the roof is also of metal sheeting.
Ramps were provided to allow access for wheelchair users, as are accessible toilet facilities.
The Works comprised of a partial refurbishment and fit out of the proposed existing accommodation of Block A, St Mary’s Hospital. It included minor demolition and alteration works, new internal walls, extensive additional finishes, fittings, sanitary ware and mechanical & electrical works. New external drainage was required, and some additional external works.
The area of the building works were vacated during the project but not the whole building and we therefore took due cognisance of the potential impact of our works and the close proximity of staff, patients, and visitors whilst undertaking these works.
Refurbishment and alteration works commenced in August 2014 and completed in December 2014 and consisted of:
- Refurbishment of the existing Foundation Stage Unit (Reception classes) and associated WC’s.
- Associated external works, including 3 new canopies.
- The removal of Asbestos from the Boiler Room.
- Replacing the Oil Fired Boilers with new Gas Fired boilers, re-connection of the services to allow the heating to be turned on.
The works comprised of the replacement of existing windows, minor external repairs and complete internal refurbishment of LB and LC Blocks. Phase 1 of the project also included the complete replacement and insulation of a heritage tiled roof covering on the LF Block.
Milldam is a complex of existing buildings, formerly in naval use but now operated by the University for teaching purposes. All building of masonry construction with slate roofs and timber windows, rising to two or four storeys. LB and LC Blocks are both four storey.
The works comprised of the major refurbishment and alteration works to the existing School. The works were carried out in two phases.
The first phase included demolition and alteration/new build to existing entrance, extension to the west hall, re-modelling of existing School and refurbishment of the existing lodge and associated external works.
Works were also carried out in the staff room, class room 8, Deputy Head teacher area, curriculum store and general store. These areas are on the ground floor of the two storey block which has been re-modelled to form the above areas during phase 2.

The works comprised of external repairs to stonework and brickwork to the buildings known as Finchdean House 1 and Finchdean House 2.

The works consisted of four new bungalows for people with Learning Disabilities on two former Hospital Sites. The works involved the erection of a two bed, a four bed and two seperate three bed specialist bungalows. The scheme also included hard and soft landscaping, car parking and boundary treatment. The works comprised of the supply and installation of rain screen cladding of existing concrete communal walkway upstands at second floor level to Gerard House and Loring House, this also included concrete repairs, asbestos removal, electrical works to communal areas, works to the flat roof, replacement composite doors, curtain walling, handrails, fencing and decoration.
Conan Road Garages works comprised of timber fascias, door frames and also works to the flat roof and decoration.
The works for Cumberland House, which is grade 2 listed and dates from 1830-1840, consisted of re-slating the roof, replacement flat roof coverings, external repairs including overhauling existing vertical sliding sash windows and some minor external works comprising of new paving and external redecoration. Due to the age of the building, works had to be carried out to exact specifications to meet conservation requirements.
