The Lodge is located within Kingston Cemetery, adjacent to the main entrance off New Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire. The restoration and refurbishment project commenced November 2017 and works on site completed March 2018 on behalf of Portsmouth City Council.
The Lodge was constructed around 1880. It is traditional build with red brickwork, slate roof with decorative ridges, stone dressings and terracotta decoration to the gables. It is not listed but is included on the Council Local List of Buildings of Architectural or Historic Interest. As such, works are to be undertaken in a sympathetic manner with emphasis placed on retaining as much of the historic fabric as possible. Care must be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any adjacent element of the historic fabric during the works.
